The picture below is a great example of how not to tie up your horses. These horses are tied to solid posts which is great, but they are tied too low. The far horse is tied low and long which allows it to graze. One small step over the lead rope and you have a huge wreck on your hands. The middle horse, though not currently munching is at the same risk. The far two horses are at a safe distance from each other, but the near two are too close together unless they get along well and are being supervised. Horses this close can easily kick each other and if they do get along can get tack and saddles tangled up causing another wreck resulting in injury and or damage to expensive equipment.
